A Californian Obsession Part #1

I know a place where the grass really is greener. Having recently been recommended the outstanding US drama Californication from my good friend Ajay, my obsession with everything California has been growing strongly.

So where did it start? Well that would have to be a little show that first aired a good five or six years ago - The O.C. The dream lifestyle. Sun and sea, beautiful homes, cars, parties, the pool house that could have be a home outright, and of course the girls. Oh yes, the girls. Summer or Marissa? For me it was always Ms Marissa Cooper, though I could most definitely understand the case for the former.

Still, like I said, ths show was far more than beautiful girls. It was a state of mind. I shared my OC experience together with close uni friends. Like a bunch of teenage girls, we sat together and loved every moment. At the time, nothing fitted our carefree lifestyle more perfectly. The awesome soundtracks known as "Music from the OC Mixes" still hit the spot, and were a particular favourite in our house. People often say things transport you to another place, but this was something special, and the Californian sun never felt warmer.

Nothing comes close to the Golden Coast.

This is a test, this is only a test

Just as the title suggests, this is a test, this is only a test. So you know, that lyric is from a track in the legendary N64 game, 1080 Snowboarding. Listening right now in fact as I'm typing. Hmm, it actually gets kind of annoying and repetitive after the initial "oh wow, this takes me back" feel good reminiscing ends.

However, old cartoons still give me a big smile. Cartoons from back in the 90's really were the shit. Tom & Jerry aside (what happened them?), here are some true classics which will take you back (great intro music too)

Legendary Cartoon no1 - Sharky & George:
Don't actually remember any actual episodes, but do remember the brilliant intro music from those hazy 6am mornings featuring Disney cartoons, Transworld Sport, and enduring my way through painful episodes of Barney.

Legendary Cartoon no2 - Duck Tales
How he dived head first, then subsequently swam around in a pile of solid money that would normally kill on impact, only Scrooge McDuck knows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwH1taatvyM

Legendary Cartoon no3 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Rafael was my favourite. That aside, thinking now with my twisted mind, she must've been into some crazy shit. Man, 4 turtles and 1 giant rat - just look at them all raring to go.
